Weekend Movie Experiences

I went to see Coffee and Cigarettes and Lost Boys of Sudan this weekend. What films did you see? What did you notice about the films you watched? How did the mise-en-scene or cinematography function within the film?

Here's a free entry if you haven't been commenting lately (or even if you have).

I saw harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban.
directed by alfonso cuaron

lot's of cinematography and framing involved. there was one time when they digitally had a tree shake and the snow fell off onto the "camera lens."
Hagrid, the big teacher is really tall, so they always shot him from a low angle, looking up at his face. They close-uped all his shots too, to emphasize his large size.

you can compare the two directors (chris columbus did
the first two harry potter's).

one difference was their interpretation of the grounds around hogwarts school. very different terrain, and the placement of the whomping willow was new.

the scene in the knight bus was new also, digital effects to stretch and bed the screen were used, and the interaction of the digital bus with the real cars and people was interesting.

Advertising can be a big problem otherwise. A lot of companies reserve a big chunk of their budgets to cover marketing expenditures.
